LANDLORD RECRUITMENT

Housing Choice Vouchers

Landlords Needed

There are many rental housing units available in the Fayetteville / Cumberland County area. However, there are very few that are affordable to renters with very low income.  This is why our community needs landlords / property owners like you to work with community providers in providing affordable, decent, and safe units for those individuals who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless.  There are federally-funded programs that provide time-limited subsidies such as security deposits and rental assistance to eligible clients.  However, providers are not always able to find units to place these clients.  This is why we need your help.  You can help these providers by listing your property on the form below or by contacting local providers to list your vacant unit.

Why should you help?

These federally-funded programs screen and assess clients to ensure they are eligible and to ensure that they have the determination to want to become self-sufficient.  Landlords / property owners benefit by partnering with the providers of these programs.  Landlords / property owners:

  • Can reduce advertising costs.  By working with these programs, you will have access to a pool of ready-to-rent tenants.
  • Can receive guaranteed security deposits and/or rent payments. These programs pre-screen clients to ensure that they have a stable source of income.  For those clients with a shortage of income, some programs provide eligible clients with temporary subsidies until they get back on their feet.  This allows clients time to work on building their emergency fund and work towards housing stabilization.
  • Will have reduced stress.  These programs have case managers that work with clients on an ongoing basis to make sure they have the support they need to succeed and maintain housing stabilization.
  • Will gain the satisfaction from helping others. No matter what their socioeconomic background or cultural difference is, the fact is everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live. Some of use do make mistakes and bad choices.  However, you can help by giving someone a second chance.

Help our community by listing your property today.  Most programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Therefore, rent limits do apply.  To obtain more information on HUD’s rent restrictions, please visit huduser.org website.
